Every so often, SHARE Scotland has space in an existing service to support a new service user. Current service vacancies will be listed below.
Supported living service available in Glasgow
We have a vacancy for supported living in a flat in the Pollok area of Glasgow.
The accommodation comprises a wheelchair accessible, one-bedroom flat within a small and quiet amenity housing complex in Pollok, near the new Silverburn Shopping Centre. The flat has a wheel-in shower room, kitchen and a living area/ bedroom that has been opened up into one larger space to allow ease of access. Whilst this would be suitable for a wheelchair user it would be equally accommodating to someone who does not use a wheelchair.
The flat is one of four in a communal close and has ramped access to the front door of the close. The specification and décor of the flat are to a high standard. There is a private front garden and communal rear garden and drying green.
The complex has a social club on site and holds many social events for the tenants.
The flat has access to a trained staff support team in a staff base upstairs, within the same close. This includes a member of staff sleeping over in the staff base through the night. The staff team has experience in supporting those with a number of support needs including complex epilepsy. Monitor alarms link the flat to the staff flat.
Staff will be available at specified times morning and evening on a daily basis (unless out supporting someone else) and through the night on a sleepover basis. Specific support can be provided within the house or out in the community at times agreed with the service user and commissioning team. Support requirements would be agreed between the service user and SHARE Scotland as needs and wishes dictate.
Share currently supports a 52 year old lady with mild to moderate learning disabilities, in one of the other two flats in the close.
This vacancy would be suitable for someone who has a degree of independence and does not require a member of staff to live within their home, but who would need to have access to support at specific agreed times, in emergencies and through the night (sleepover).
The minimum service specification to ensure access to a member of staff would be around 30-35 hours per week, plus a share of the sleepover.
